MS Office Application Development
The MS Office suite of programs provides a tremendous amount of functionality, and is so widely deployed that almost everyone working in the business world today is familiar with it.
Since 1989 I've been developing applications that integrate the functionality of MS Office, providing customized solutions to meet various business requirements. They are typically cost-effective, easy to implement, and simple to use.
An example of this would be a project management application in which managers update their weekly progress in a Word template, which is posted to an Access database, and uses Excel for reporting the results.
MS Access performs well for database applications that will be used by a relatively small group of users, and can always be upscaled later should the database grow beyond its original purpose. Quite complex reporting can be developed quickly and easily, and it's also great to use as a prototyping tool.
